ACES Workshop

Edinburgh College of Art coordinates with the ACES programme (Access to Creative Eduction in Scotland)  and invited me to take the Illustrative Workshop to the art school to  create a new experience and  support  S5/S6 pupils who are applying to Scottish art schools.

They were a fantastic bunch to work with and produced some great pieces over the two day workshop; experimenting with mixed media in relation to the life model and fashion garments.

I wish all the students every success.

Fused: Fashion, Art, Life Drawing

Charcoal Woman
In February 2012, Edinburgh based artist Christine Clark brings you FUSED: a one day workshop which will give you the chance to immerse yourself in the world of Art, Life Drawing, Photographic Images and Fashion. Each Calender month Fused will change it's concept providing a new exciting visual to work from.

The inaugural workshop begins with a stunning fashion installation combining  garments from designer Judy R Clark with an eclectic mix of shoes, lamps, fabrics, found objects, photographs and ornate clothing to provide an exciting space for the Life Model and participants to work from.

The Workshop is a one day course for all levels  and ages designed to improve drawing skills, support the study of other courses or for those wishing to build a portfolio for higher education. Equally there is an opportunity for those interested in the world of Art, Fashion Life Drawing and Photography to come along to have some fun and explore new techniques.

The life model will pose within the fashion inspired installation and a variety of materials and surfaces will be introduced where students will be encouraged to experiment; flourishing a fresh output of ideas considering line tone, colour texture and collage.

Looking at the figure in motion, fabric textures and exploring individual creative process students will produce a number of different studies and a finished drawing(s). There will also be an opportunity to take photographs so you can then work from the pictures in your own time.

A varied selection of different archives, magazines and imagery will also be available.

Materials, easels and drawing boards will be provided with refreshments and lunch break

The concept of  Fused will change monthly inviting you back for a different  experience within the Workshop.

Inspiration-Installation

While looking for Inspiration for my workshops I came across these stunning installations

Doris Salcedo takes ordinary objects and uses their embodied histories, (d)evolved forms and sheer quantities to impress upon people the weight of time and meaning inherent in everyday items. She has a fondness for domestic and commonplace materials – from textiles to wood furniture – that show wear and tear over time.

1600 chairs were used in the making of this monstrous work of urban art. To further charge her work she frequently puts it right in public view, displacing a space people normally think of as empty to send her (open-to-interpretation) political, economic and historical messages.

Nele Azevedo spends hours on a work of art, only to watch it disappear before your eyes.  And now imagine that the disappearing part was the point all along.  That’s the case with ice art installations.  Several artists are using ice art to call attention to global warming and our fragile planet.
